Former Yorkshire spinner Azeem Rafiq claims his family has been harassed, attacked, and intimidated . Rafiq said he had been subjected to racial discrimination and bullying .
Since the former Yorkshire spinner made charges of bigotry against his old club, Azeem Rafiq claims his family has been harassed, attacked, and intimidated.Rafiq sent shockwaves through cricket two years ago when he said he had been subjected to racial discrimination and bullying as a Yorkshire player.Yorkshire conducted an investigation into the 31-year-olds' allegations, and although seven of them were upheld, the county concluded last October that no member of staff would face discipline.Politicians controlled the club, and the England and Wales Cricket Board launched its own probe into the allegations and Yorkshire's handling of them.Rafiq, who said racial prejudice had triggered suicidal thoughts, said that the whole affair has had a toll on his family, who has seen abuse of their own from the public.Rafiq wrote on Twitter that my family and I have been subjected to harassment, bullying, and assault since I spoke out about my experience at YCCC.I cannot imagine anyone or their families should be allowed to be unsafe, and I strongly encourage people to do so.
From the moment I spoke out about my experiences at YCCC, my family and I have been subjected to threats, attacks & intimidation— Azeem Rafiq (@AzeemRafiq30) June 29, 2022
Absolutely no individual or their family should be made to feel unsafe & I urge people to respect that
