SLC has confirmed that it is paying for Danushka Gunathilakas legal defense in Australia since he was charged with sexual harassment without permission while on national duty in the pending ICC T20 World Cup, according to ESPNCricinfo.SLC CEO Ashley de Silva said that six days after the incident, it is still trying to determine whether the player broke the board's curfew on November 2, the night the charges relate.De Silva maintains that it will recover all the legal fees from the criminal, either by urging Gunathilaka to pay the board or docking the SLC debt to him.Given that he was with the team in a formal capacity, we agreed to pay the legal fees on the condition that we would recover them from him later, no matter the facts, said De Silva.Gunathilaka has represented the country in 47 ODIs, 46 T20Is, and eight Tests.

Since Kusal Perera was cleared, SLC has made a separate inquiry into the case. The team manager is in touch with ICCs security forces to see if the player broke the curfew on Tuesday evening. The board has denied charges by a senior journalist that politicians allegedly directed the board to bear the costs of Gunathilaka's defense.Sri Lanka Cricket has in no way been influenced by a third party in carrying out the necessary steps to allow Mr. Danushka Gunathilaka to exercise any legal rights that are available to him, according to a statement released by the board on Tuesday.

He was not released on bail either.SLC employees are not in direct contact with the player, apart from a five-minute interval around his arrest, during which Gunathilaka spoke with the team's manager, according to de Silva.
