Guwahati, India, is a state of Washington, USA, has signed a new memorandum of understanding with the South Dakota Mines to continue studies in two-dimensional (2D) materials and biofilms.Both institutions will be able to pool funds and leverage grant opportunities while simultaneously facilitating efficient problem-solving.The discovery of 2D materials and biofilms has a large potential for future applications in many areas.These include the medical field, where progress has been made into new types of anti-cancer, antibacterial, and other medications.
In the Central Instrumentation Facility and the Center for Nanotechnology, IIT Guwahati has world-class state-of-the-art facilities and equipment, which are available to researchers and graduate students with expert faculty supervision and training.This collaboration between IITG and Mines will benefit us all.Professor Tapas Kumar Mandal, Department of Chemical Engineering, IIT Guwahati, said that multidisciplinary research can utilize various strengths and expertise to take us to the next level and benefit society.The deal also included a research grant program in which undergraduate students in both universities can learn from faculty and have access to testing and research equipment at both sites.
