Srinivas protested the Thaikkudam Bridge band's decision to take Kanatara makers to court . He said that artists should refrain from such tumultuous fights and instead leave the fighting to politicians and religious fundamentalists .
In the midst of Rishab Shettys Kantara receiving much praise from the audience and making it big at the box office, the makers of the action thriller film recently stumbled into a blunder when the burgeoning music band Thaikkudam Bridge accused them of copying the song Varaha Roopam from their album Navarasa. Now, as the Kerala court barred the makers of Kanatara from performing the song Varaha Roopam in theaters, OTT, and other streaming platforms, the popular musician Srinivas protested the Thaikkudam Bridges' inaction to face justice.Srinivas wrote a note on his official Facebook page stating that although he has a lot of respect for the Thaikkudam Bridge band, he should not agree with their decision to summon another fellow musician. The well-known musician also stated that he is not collaborating with Kantara makers.
Srinivas said that artists should refrain from such tumultuous fights and instead leave the fighting to politicians and religious fundamentalists. In a Facebook note from Srinivas, it read: I have the most respect for the Thaikkudam bridge, but taking another fellow musician to court isn't a graceful move for any artist.I'm not defending the creators of Kantara.Varaha roopam may be inspired by Thaikkudams Navarasam (if so the guitarists of the song must be fit enough to pick up the phone and say so) But both these songs are simply based on the 72 Melakartha system. The guitar riffs and the shruti of the song are certainly similar, but why does it create so much of a division and hatred by going to court? It has now evolved into a right wing left wing fight or one of those stupid divisions created by Man and perfected it on social media. Why not leave the fighting to politicians and religious fundamentalists? As musicians, we must stay away from all of this.
