K Stalin, the Tamil Nadu chief minister, congratulated actor Suriya for being inducted into the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science, the body that awards the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science each year.Suriya has become the first south Indian actor to win this accolade.The Academy published the list of the 397 artists who were given the award this year on Tuesday.The new members were selected based on their academic qualifications and their ongoing dedication to advocacy, inclusion, and equity, according to it.

Suriya's acting talents and his selection of socially committed stories for his films were praised by the chief minister, who tweeted this was a huge honour.
