State poll panel forbids publication of exit poll results in MCD elections

Exit poll projections for MCD elections will be banned from 0800 hrs 12.11.2022 to 1730 hrs on December 5, 2022 . The state poll panel also reported that in the course of the 2017 general elections, the BJP won 181 wards, while the AAP won 48 .

New Delhi, India, November 24: Following the polling for the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) on December 4, the State Election Commission in Delhi declared on Thursday that exit poll projections for MCD elections would be banned from 0800 hrs 12.11.2022 to 1730 hrs on December 5, 2022, according to a release by the state election commission on Thursday.According to the state poll panel, it is imperative to regulate opinion and exit polls in the spirit of Article 243K, which is enshrined in the DMC Act, 1951, and the AAP, which is in power in the state.The state poll commission also reported that in the course of the 2017 general elections, the BJP won 181 wards, while the AAP won 48.The Congress could only gain 27 seats.
