Station manager at Bachhwara fired for sending train down the wrong track

PATNA: The station master (SM) of Bachhwara Junction, Kundan Kumar, and his assistant, Suraj Kumar, were suspended on Friday for dereliction of service after the Guwahati-Jammu Tawi Amarnath Express was diverted to the wrong route on Thursday.The train was supposed to travel via Samastipur, but it arrived at Bacchawara Junction on the Shahpur Patori-Hajipur route.The railroads also launched an investigation to determine the scope of all the maintenance staff for detouring the train (15653) to the wrong track.Bachhwara Junction, according to Sonepur divisional railway boss (DRM) Neelmani, is a crucial point for originating or passing long-distance mail and express trains.

He said the Guwahati-Jammu Tawi Amarnath Express was delayed for about 45 minutes due to reverting it on the right track.According to sources, the loco pilot realized the station master's error and stopped the train near the outer signal of Bachhwara Junction, a stretch of about 1 km from the station, as the train was then reversed to Bachhwara Junction to continue its onward journey.The station masters were convicted of inputting the wrong signal and track points for the train, according to the DRM, a preliminary investigation.He said that after the completion of the investigation report, more heads would roll.
