On Saturday, a 54-year-old man committed suicide by hanging in his house at Mullai Nagar here, after posting a video in which he confessed to losing 62 lakh to DMK functionary Senthil Kumar, who was running an online lottery, and sharing it on WhatsApp.The video has gone viral on social media.The Erode north police department has lodged a complaint and launched an investigation.The deceased person was identified as J Radhakrishnan, a yarn commission agent, by a police officer.

Radhakrishnan was working on a power loom unit that he shut down after incurring substantial losses, before becoming a commission agent for yarn.Radhakrishnan posted a video on Friday night claiming to have lost 62 lakh in an online lottery robbery and was afraid of becoming addicted to the online lottery if he were alive, according to the officer.He committed suicide in the early hours of Saturday after sharing it with some of his contacts on WhatsApp.In the morning, family members noticed him hanging from the ceiling of his room and alerted Erode North police, who took him to the government hospital for postmortem.
