Chennai (Tamil Nadu) (India), December 9, 2017: The National Disaster Response Force team was on standby in Chennai on Friday, as the cyclone Mandous intensified its force of Severe Cyclonic Storm until the early morning hours, according to officials.The NDRF team in Chennai, Adayar Indra Nagar, has been stationed where they have packed rescue equipment to move when needed.Once the state officials' warning has been given, the NDRF team will immediately deploy to the intended location, according to Sub-Inspector NDRF Sandeep Kumar.Officials informed that three districts of Tamil Nadu had been given a red alert earlier this year.
It is highly likely that the Severe Cyclonic Storm will intensify into a cyclonic storm by early morning today, the 9th of December, and then weaken gradually into a cyclonic storm thereafter.According to an official release from the India Meteorological Department, it is expected to continue to move west-northwestwards and cross north Tamilnadu, Puducherry, and the adjoining south Andhra Pradesh coasts around Mahabalipuram at midnight on December 09th to early hours of December, with heavy to very heavy rain in isolated areas, according to the statement.
