CHENNAI (official website): Tamil Nadu Minister of Finance and Human Resources Palanivel Thiaga Rajan said on Thursday that the Union government is attempting to control state governments' borrowing capacity by capsizing their borrowing capacity. He told reporters here that the Union government has set an annual borrowing limit of 83,955 crore for Tamil Nadu.I think they are trying to control how we think and behave.I think they want only one authority in Delhi and everybody else to submit.

It isn't restricted to Tamil Nadu.It is happening in every state.Tamil Nadu would, however, see significant growth, he said, adding that acts of passing laws on subjects on the state list seemed to be an attempt to violate state rights. The elected government in the state has certain authority, but the center is deciding how much it can borrow and where to earn money.

Based on statistics released by the Union government, how fair would it be if Tamil Nadus inflation was 5%, while others recorded an inflation of 7%?It is no secret that Tamil Nadu has less inflation than other parts of the country. It can be achieved by proper management of any scheme and budget.Tamil Nadu has remained revenue neutral until 2014, according to the minister.

The fiscal deficit has also been reduced by 3.25%-3.35% from 4.61% in the previous year, according to him.
