Tamil scholar and orator Nellai Kannan passes away

Nellai Kannan, a Tamil scholar and performer, died at his home in Tirunelveli on Thursday.He wasHe was suffering from age-related illnesses.Nellai Kannan was a member of the Congress party and became into public speaking from 1970.Because of his proficiency in the dialect, he was given the name Tamil Kadal (Tamil sea).

MK Stalin, the chief minister, and other top officials expressed condolences for his passing.In his condolence speech, the chief minister said Nellai Kannan was a popular speaker and was in contact with the high leaders of Tamil Nadu.When Nellai Kannan was awarded the Kamarajar Kathir award by Viduthalai Siruthaigal Katchi, the CM recalled his interaction with him last year.He expressed his condolences to his family and friends.

Kannans contribute to the Tamil language and the society as a whole, he tweeted.Kannan was a fine Tamil scholar and an excellent speaker, according to CPM state secretary K Balakrishnan.He had been a part of several CPM conferences.During the races, he also ran for the CPM candidates.
