India — Udaipur (Rajasthan), December 5 : On the second day of India's first Sherpa meeting in Udaipur, the talks on Indias G20 priorities took place.The first two sessions were focused on Technological Change and Green Development and Lifestyle for Health (LIFE), according to the Ministry of External Affairs.In addition to the first two sessions, a dialogue on Global & Regional Economy: Prospects & Challenges was held alongside a formal Chai pe Charcha among G20 member countries was also held.The international Sherpas, their delegations, and heads of international organisations have flown to Udaipur to participate in India's G20 presidency's first Sherpa meeting in Udaipur.
The meeting was started by providing an overview of India's G20 priorities for 13 Working Groups.According to a press release released by the Ministry of External Affairs, Amitabh Kant stressed Indias role as the de facto voice of the Global South to forge win-win partnerships between developed and developing nations, highlighting major global challenges, which he emphasized required enhancing the global coordination of G20 countries' responses as one.During the first session, the delegates discussed the obstacles to rapid digitization in different sectors in their countries.The delegates from the G20 countries, guest speakers, and international organisations discussed the most effective ways to leverage technology. The second session, on Sustainable Development and Lifestyle for Environment, was held with a focus on how to collectively tackle climate change and the need to facilitate a green and energy transition.In the second session of India's G20 meeting, Amitabh Kant stressed the importance of mobilising collective efforts towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).Following the second session, a dialogue on International & Regional Economy: Perspectives & Challenges was held.Luis Breuer, the IMF's Resident Representative in India, and Kristina Kostial, the IMF's Deputy Director of the Strategy and Policy Division, called for paying attention to emerging global economic challenges. To further enrich their cultural experience of Rajasthan, G20 Sherpas were given traditional Indian jackets, turbans, and stoles.The second day of India's Sherpa meeting began with Ratri Bhoj par Samvaad (Conversation Over Dinner) at Jagmandir in Udaipur, a non-profit organization, and various cultural performances on the first day of the meeting, notably an informal media meeting, a Jal Sanjhi art exhibit, a delegates conference, and a Desert Music Symphony.
