New Delhi, India (India), December 8: The rooftop solar initiative has been extended until March 31, 2026, and thus, no additional fees will be paid to any supplier or agency or individual due to the National Portal fee or any additional fees for net-metering or testing that are not imposed by the respective distribution company, according to the ministry's announcement.Any consumer wishing to install rooftop solar from any part of the country can apply and follow the whole process from registration to release the subsidy directly into his bank According to the release, the subsidy under the National Portal has been set at Rs 14,588 per kW (for a capacity of up to 3 kW) for the whole country and residential customers will install rooftop solar installations from any one of the vendors that have been licensed by the respective distribution company of their locality.The list of registered vendors is also available on the National Portal.The ministry said that the vendor and the customers' interests have been discussed on the National Portal, and that the terms of the agreement can be mutually agreed, adding that the vendor must provide technical support to the customer for at least five years and that the respective distribution company will pay the vendor's performance bank guarantee in case of failure.There is no fee for applying on the National Portal, and also the charges for net-metering have been set by the respective distribution companies.
The ministry is also implementing Phase-II, which includes a central finance assistance (CFA) or subsidy for residential use.Prime Minister Narendra Modu inaugurated a National Portal on July 30, 2022 to facilitate the execution of the initiative.
