New Delhi (India), December 2: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has taken over the probe into a pressure cooker explosion in a Mangaluru autorickshaw on November 19 that killed a passenger, identified as Mohammed Shariq, who was carrying a pressure cooker bomb made from an Improvised Explosive Device (IED), according to Mangaluru Police Commissioner N Shashikumar, who said the incident was being investigated by NIA.Our investigating officer and their team interviewed him on certain aspects of the case, which should be investigated.Our head office told us that the case is being transferred to the NIA and that we have completed the paperwork.They're taking up the matter for further examination.
The cooker bomb was designed to launch a large-scale attack on the coastal zone and in the state, fueling social tensions.When the explosion occurred, Shariq was en route to a pre-determined location for preparing the attack.The Forensic Science Laboratory Division (FSL) team arrived at Shariq's house the next day in Mysore and retrieved materials used to make explosives, and investigating officers learned that he had radicalized his schoolmates, Syed Yasin and Muneer Ahmed, and introduced them to IS as well.The experiment itself was also praised for its success, according to reports.
