New Delhi, India, November 30: According to data released by the Office of the Registrar General under the Ministry of Home Affairs on Tuesday, various healthcare initiatives taken up by Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government have yielded results and significantly reduced maternal mortality rate, according to Union health minister Mansukh Mandaviya.The MMR was 130 in 2014-16, a rate that has steadily increased since then.Maternal mortality in a region is a measure of the reproductive health of women in the region.Many women in the reproductive age range die as a result of issues during and after pregnancy, childbirth, or abortion.
