The new director of AIIMS-Delhi will be M Srinivas.

Dr M Srinivas will replace Dr Randeep Guleria, who has been in office since March 2017 . Dr Srinivas will serve as the AIIMS director for five years beginning from the date of his appointment or until he reaches the age of 65 .

NEW DELHI: According to an order issued by the department of personnel and training on Friday, Dr M Srinivas, Dean of ESI Hospital and Medical College Hyderabad, would become the new director of AIIMS, Delhi.Dr Srinivas will replace Dr Randeep Guleria, who has been in office since March 2017.Dr. Srinivas served as a professor in the institute's paediatric surgery department until 2016 when he was elected to lead the ESIC hospital in Hyderabad by the government.Dr. Srinivas is known for his contribution to transforming the ESIC Hospital and Medical College into one of the region's busiest hospitals, which, according to reports, played a key role in his selection for the highly coveted position over many others.

When it came to vetting the applications for the position of AIIMS director, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC), headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, called for a larger committee of doctors.Dr Srinivas will serve as the AIIMS director for five years beginning from the date of his appointment or until he reaches the age of 65.Dr Randeep Guleria's term ended on Friday after being extended twice.On March 28, 2017, Dr. Guleria, a well-known pulmonologist, was elected director for a five-year term.

Dr Dr Rajiv Bahl has been appointed the president general of the Indian Council of Medical Research, India's top health research body, by the DoP in an order.The position had been vacant for some months.
