The self-immolation of a guy outside a police station is taken suo motu notice of by the Odisha human rights authority.

Gunanidhi Bisoi of Ishani Brahmapur village, near Salepur district, lodged a lawsuit at Kishan Nagar police station on June 19 . Bisoi had been pleading with the police station on Thursday to follow up on his allegations, but it was to no avail .

BHUBANESWAR (BHUBANESWAR): The Odisha Human Rights Commission (OHRC) took suo motu notice of a lawsuit involving the self-immolation of a man near a Kishan Nagar police station in Cuttack district on Friday and asked the DGP to prepare a report after an inquiry into the situation.According to reports, one Gunanidhi Bisoi of Ishani Brahmapur village, near Salepur district, lodged a lawsuit at Kishan Nagar police station on June 19 about a land dispute.He had been pleading with the police station on Thursday to follow up on his allegations, but it was to no avail.The 52-year-old Bisoi had also gone to the police station on Thursday, but was allegedly refused to meet any police official.

The fire was detonated by local people and staff at the police station.They rescued him in a critical condition and he transported him to SCB Medical College and Hospital.Bisoi was later transferred to Ashwini Hospital in Cuttack.He had more than 80% burns.

This investigation has been taken seriously by the Commission.The court's next hearing will be on July 25.
