A senior government official said on Friday that an expert committee appointed by the road transportation ministry to probe incidents of electric two-wheelers catch fire and propose remedial measures is scheduled to present its report this month.Several incidents have occurred recently where electric cars (EVs) caught fire, resulting in death and injury to people.The expert committee, which is based on battery quality and certification, is expected to submit its report this month, according to the official.After the expert panel's findings, road transport and highways minister Nitin Gadkari said companies that are negligent would be penalized and a recall of all defective vehicles would be ordered.

According to the road transport ministry, the Centre for Fire Explosive and Environment Protection (CFEES) had been commissioned to investigate the causes of the incident and also suggest remedial measures.
