Three Aligarh Muslim University students were beaten, and two RPF officers were suspended in Uttar Pradesh.

AGRA: On Thursday, students of Aligarh Muslim University staged a protest on the campus after three of their classmates were reportedly assaulted and injured by Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel.The three, from West Bengal, had gone to see off their relatives at the railway station.Two police officers have been suspended, and an investigation is ongoing.According to RPF agents, there was a violent exchange between a constable and the students when the latter wanted him to help them get to their seats in a Farakka Express sleeper car.

One of the students pursuing BEd at AMU said that the RPF officers took them to a room at the railway plaform and beat them up after they alighted from the train.Shafiqul Islam, a student pursuing BEd at AMU, said they were wounded by injury.According to a station house officer of Aligarh RPF Rajeev Verma, the duty in-charge, ASI Prempal Singh, and constable Kuldeep (who goes by his first name) have been suspended, and an investigation is underway against them.They have also filed an FIR against them.

The rally at AMU was postponed after RPF officials gave AMU proctor Prof Wasim Ali and the students that no action would be taken in the case.
