India captain KL Rahul says team must play aggressive cricket to make it to World Test Championship final . India will face Bangladesh in first of two-test series starting December 14th .
NEW DELHI: With a depleted squad at his disposal, India stand-in skipper KL Rahul said on Monday that if the team is to make it to the World Test Championship final next year, it must play aggressive cricket.Starting December 14th, India will face Bangladesh in the first of two-test series and will be without Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Ravindra Jadeja, and Mohammed Shami, who are out with injuries.To finish in the top-two in the World Test Championship points table, India needs to win their next six games (two in Bangladesh and four against Australia at home).The team is currently fourth in the nation, behind Australia (75 percentage points), South Africa (60 percentage points), and Sri Lanka (64 percentage points).
After the unveiling of the trophy, Rahul said, We know where we are and what we need to do to qualify for the final.We will determine what is needed for the team at that moment of day and session and bring our best.The season-ending World Test Championship will be held at the Oval in London in June 2023.
