Kolkata: On Friday, the Calcutta High Court will hear a petition on the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA).On Thursday, the petitioner GNLF and the state submitted their notes of argument on the HC's order.GNLF supremo and chairman of Darjeeling Gorkha Hill Council (DGHC), Subash Ghisingh, had requested the supremo and chair of the council the Supreme Court, arguing that the GTA Act, which was repealed by repealing the DGHC Act, lacks constitutional support. The DGHC Act, 1988, was exempt from the provisions of the panchayat act and municipal statutes.

Advisor General S N Mookherjee told the court that the election process was still ongoing and that there was no room for judicial intervention at this stage. The advocate general attracted the HC's attention to the fact that the petition opposing the GTA Act had been pending adjudication since 2012.According to Mookherjee, there has been no standoff on the pact so far.
