NEW DELHI (New Delhi): Trai, a telecom regulator, released a consultation paper on Friday to solicit public opinion on the use of artificial intelligence and big data to improve telecom services and increase network security and efficiency.In a consultation paper on Leveraging artificial intelligence and Big Data in the telecommunications industry, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) sought perspectives on areas where existing and future capabilities of telecom networks can be exploited to leverage AI (artificial intelligence) and BD (big data).The analysis paper comes following a letter from the department of telecom in June 2019, in which the department sought Trai's help in bringing AI and BD together in a seamless and cost-effective way to enhance the overall service quality, spectrum management, and network reliability.The authority has sought input on risks inherent in AI and BD, such as unethical use, distortion in data and algorithms, privacy, model conformity, and legal non-compliance.
