Trichy: regions at risk of flooding

Five residential areas along the Cauvery and Kollidam rivers are most vulnerable to flooding . Each of the five residential areas has approximately 6-30 dwellings .

TRICHY, Ireland: Five residential areas in the city along the Cauvery and Kollidam rivers are most vulnerable to flooding in the event of a surplus water discharge from Mettur's Stanley reservoir, according to the Trichy Corporation on Friday.For each of the five vulnerable areas, the district has appointed a liaison officer and established safe shelters to protect residents if the water level rises higher.Minister of Municipal Administration K Nehru and district collector M Pradeep Kumar inspected all the black spots and monitored the municipal administration's security measures.In Trichy district, Minister Nehru distributed food to the people in relief shelters in Bikshandarkoil, Nochiyam, and Perugamani.

Collector M Pradeep Kumar reported that all entrances to both the rivers were blocked.We have 59 rescue centres, of which six are serving refugees.Six shelters have taken care of 308 people from 119 families in total.Though their houses were not flooded, we had anticipated the situation they had fled from their habitations.

Each of the five residential areas has approximately 6-30 dwellings.The families were warned to alert us if the water level rises gradually.The liaison officers' contact information was shared with them.According to a Trichy Corporation official, we have also made arrangements to cook food for the families if their houses flood.
