Tripura civic polls: The Left Front is looking for perfect security during the counting process.

Left Front asks for four-point security scheme for counting on Sunday. Left Front chairman Narayan Kar demands that all counting halls be covered by CCTV, three rings of security. He says the state has been tarnished by allegations of booth capture and rigging.

AGARTALA (Although the Trinamool Congress, CPM and former minister Kapil Sibal filed an appeal to the Supreme Court on Friday, seeking to countermand the electoral polls in Tripura and to halt the counting of votes until the SC responds, the Left Front wrote to the State Election Commission (SEC) asking for a four-point security scheme for counting on Sunday.In a letter to the SEC, Left Front chairman Narayan Kar demanded that all counting halls be covered by CCTV, three rings of security, and that the entrance be maintained by the Central armed police force.He added that no unwarranted individual should enter the room, and that media persons should have free access to the counting procedure.He said the state has been tarnished by allegations of booth capture and rigging in the elections to the Agartala Municipal Corporation and 19 other urban bodies.

Since the Supreme Court intervened to make the electoral process free and fair, it should now take steps to protect democracy and the rights of its constituents.According to Kar, it is now the SECs job to ensure foolproof safety during counting.BJP gangs were on the prowl in Agartala and other towns that day, assaulting CPM and other opposition party candidates, polling officers, and local officials with dire consequences.Several incidents of physical assault were declared.

On polling day, allegations of extensive booth capture by BJP goons and savage suppression of polling in many booths surfaced.In Agartala town, polling officers of opposition parties were beat up and driven out of booths.Following polling, the bulk of the booths were surveyed.In seven municipalities, opposition candidates were discouraged from submitting nominations.
