TRS MLAs poaching case: Telangana HC's order to enable SIT probe is overturned by the SC

Supreme Court annulled a Telangana High Court order directing the Special Investigation Team to continue with the probe into the suspected Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) MLAs poaching case . The matter must be considered by the Single Judge on its own merits without being influenced by the Division Benchs recommendations .

New Delhi (India), November 24: In its order of November 21, the Supreme Court annulled a Telangana High Court order directing the Special Investigation Team (SIT) to continue with the probe into the suspected Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) MLAs poaching case and not appear before any body, be it political or executive.The learned Single Judge is urged to review the present petitioner(s)'s writ petitions on their own merits and in accordance with the statute, in the most expeditiously possible and preferably within four weeks from today.SIT was a petition brought by three defendants, including Ramachandra Bharti, demanding a Telangana High Court order.The petitioners' senior counsel, as well as defense counsel for the respondent, agreed that the matter must be considered by the Single Judge on its own merits without being influenced by the Division Bench's recommendations, according to the top court.The HC also agreed that the Single Judge should not interfere with the investigation by the SIT, and that it shall not interfere with the investigation by any body, be it political or executive, as directed by the SIT.
