Two footballers have been arrested in Goa for chain stealing.

Monu Singh, 20, and Gautam Dhapse, 19, were arrested in Nashik and released . Police say Singh was running short of funds to pay bills, including the house rent .

PANAJI (pennedoutput): Two footballers from reputed clubs have been arrested by Old Goa police in an alleged chain snatching case.According to police, the most important footballer among the two didn't have enough funds in Goa to survive, so he took such a drastic move.According to police, one Vimal Bhomkar, 50, of Old Goa, filed a lawsuit claiming that two bicycle-borne people snatched her gold chain worth Rs 1 lakh from her neck at around 12 noon on Monday and fled the scene.The incident occurred near a Dargah in Old Goa.

Monu Singh, 20, and Gautam Dhapse, 19, were arrested in Nashik and released.Singh is the main suspect in the case, according to police, and his family was in constant need of him to return to his hometown.Singh was running short of funds to pay his bills, including the house rent.According to cops, he planned chain stanching.

According to police, Dhapse has yet to be interviewed to determine his motives.The stolen two gold chains and the motorcycle used to commit the offence have been confiscated.Both the accused have been remanded to 3-day probation.Viraj Dhauskar, a police sub-inspector, is now investigating the case.
