Ujjain: Devotees visit the sanctum sanctorum at the Mahakaleshwar Temple.

Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain, India, has been closed to devotees to Baba Mahakal . The temple management committee decided to allow common devotees to seek Baba Mahakal blessings .

On Thursday, devotees thronged the Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain (Madhya Pradesh) India, with many coming to the sanctum sanctorum to celebrate Baba Mahakal.The Mahakaleshwar temple's secretary said that footfall had increased sharply in the aftermath of the Diwali celebrations, so that it was impossible to arrange a darshan for all the visiting devotees.According to the temples management committee president and also the district collector, Ashish Singh Mahakaleshwar, the remaining devotees were here to see Baba Mahakal at Nandi Mandapam.The devotees are all content as a time limit has been set for a darshan, he said.

We are grateful to the temple committee for providing this opportunity, said Preeti from Mumbai.Though devotees will be able to attend Baba Mahakal from 1 pm to 4 pm free of charge, services will be restricted on Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays because of the large number of devotees attending.
