New Delhi (New York) – Since the Narendra Modi government took power in 2014, passport requirements have increased by 500 percent, according to Union Minister of State for External Affairs V Muraleedharan, who said in Lok Sabha during Question Hour that the Ministry of External Affairs has been continually working to speed up the delivery of passports.He also stated that 32 million Indians or Indian origin people live abroad, and that the Ministry of External Affairs has been providing services to all of them.Mr Muraleedharan said the Modi government is trying to speed up passport issuance and meet high or seasonal demand for passports by arranging special drives or melas on weekends.He said the number of offices processing passport applications was 110 before 2014 and now stands at over 550.
