MUMBAI (MUMBAI) – Police said on Saturday that a 23-year-old man was assaulted with sharp weapons by a crowd in Maharashtra's Ahmednagar district, accusing him of supporting Bharatiya Janata Parties Nupur Sharma on social media, causing him to be critically wounded. In relation to the incident on August 4, four people have been arrested.Because the investigation is in its early stages, a senior officer said it was premature to state anything about the motive behind the assault.According to a police source, the man, named Pratik alias Sunny Rajendra Pawar, was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of a hospital for injuries to his head and other areas of the body.According to the official, the incident happened while Pawar and Amit Mane, the inmate in the case, were driving to a function on his two-wheeler and waited for a friend near the hospital.Several men from the Muslim group approached them on two-wheelers as they were waiting for a companion.According to the First Information Report (FIR), they were carrying a sword, sickle, and hockey sticks.Mane alleged in his lawsuit filed on Friday that one of them screamed at Pawar, wrote a post on social media supporting Nupur Sharma and then shared his status on Instagram after Kanhaiya Lal, and assaulted him. Pawar was told by the thugs that he would face the same fate as Umesh Kolhe.According to the FIR, one of the attackers struck Pawar in his face, according to a local official. On social media in Maharashtra's Amravati district, Kolhe, a chemist, was killed over his alleged support for Nupur Sharma. The case is being investigated by the National Investigation Agency (NIA). A senior police officer said linking the assault to Pawar's social media messages is premature.Though a pawars social media post backed up Nupur Sharma is mentioned in the lawsuit, it is premature to mention it as the investigation continues, he said.Pawar, he said, has a criminal record, with two charges being brought against him.Pawar had been prosecuted earlier for his criminal activities. According to another police official, we are investigating all of his social media accounts, including Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp.According to him, the victim had some old enmity with members of a group that may have triggered the assault.According to sections 307 (Attempt to murder),143 (Being a member of an unlawful assembly), rioting, 323 (Sufficiency of Causes of Injury), and 504 (Intentional assault with the intention to inflame a defiance of the peace) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 14 people were arrested.BJP MLA Nitesh Rane said Pawar was assaulted by ten to fifteen Muslim men who asked him why he kept Nupur Sharmas picture as his DP and encouraged others to do so. He is fighting for his life, he said.I want to warn that if Hindus are targeted in this manner, our hands are not tied.We will not sit still until all the accused have been arrested. Some of them are still absconding. The Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government and minority affairs minister Nawab Malik are no longer in power.A tit-for-tat approach will be offered to attack Hindus. We follow the B R Ambedkar's law.According to Mumbai reporters, there is no Shariah law in this world.
