LUCKNOW: The last place to expect culinary delights is a jail cell.Ranveer Singh Brar, a celebrity chef who has been roped in to help elevate the meals served to prisoners in Uttar Pradesh's prisons, has offered his help in changing the mindset.The prison department and the National Institute for Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development (NIESBD), the ministry's chief wing, have initiated the initiative.Anand Kumar, the director general of prisons, said that the Lucknow-born chef will encourage prisoners to try new dishes for their meals.

Ranveer will begin operations in Model Lucknow Jail and Nari Bandi Niketan on Monday, according to the officer.The complete schedule of the chef has been decided in coordination with the NIESBD, according to the officer.Kumar said that its preparation would be taught to them as part of entrepreneurship development, not just cooking.In the first stage, cooking, weaving, and embroidery will be taught in Lucknow Model Jail and Nari Bandi Niketan, and after this success, the model will be replicated in other state prisons.

We've already formed four batches of 25 people, each of whom will be working with the chef and improving their cooking skills, according to the officer.According to the officer, the top chef would also prepare the prisoners to prepare a wider range of confectionery items from the jail's bakery, which has been operational since late last year.The aim is to not only add cookies and biscuits to it, but also teach the prisoners how to pack them so it can be sold out in the open market.According to him, we're currently offering a 100 gram bun for Rs 5 at the jail headquarters, which can be obtained from the jail's main entrance.
