Varanasi: Danish initiative to protect rivers and water launched

Danish consultancy firm unveiled the Ramboll Knowledge Product . Danish delegation met with faculty members and students at BHU and IIT(BHU) Danish minister promised all feasible assistance from Denmark to river Varuna restoration .

VARANASI (VARANASI) — During an eight-member delegation from Denmark to Banaras Hindu University on Thursday, a Danish consultancy firm, Ramboll, unveiled the Rambolls Knowledge Product.This initiative would aid in the conservation and improvement of rivers and lakes.In Varanasi, a pilot project on river and water management will be launched shortly.To discuss the overall water management plan for Varanasi and the challenges that accompany it, the Danish delegation, led by Flemming Mller Mortensen, Minister for Development Cooperation, and Minister for Nordic Cooperation, met with faculty members and students from various departments related to river and environment management at BHU and IIT(BHU).

He said that a pilot program on river and water management would be launched shortly.Prof AS Raghuvanshi, the director of the Institute of Environment and Sustainable Development, gave a brief presentation about the BHU's water management program earlier today.Following this, a short film about the present state of the Ganga and its tributaries like Varuna and Asi, and the Namami Gange series were shown.Deepak Agrawal, the divisional commissioner, informed the audience that the Central and state governments' river management programs are being implemented in Varanasi.

On the trip, the delegation also explored the National Mission for Safe Ganga exhibition, which included Ganga Doot, Ganga Mitra, Ganga Prahari, and Jalaj.
