Amaravati: The Volvo group has unveiled the first green castings that will be used to build its engines at Naidupet.For its global requirements, the car manufacturer will use casting materials from the AP factory.For select Volvo engines, the green castings from India will include bearing caps and bearing housing.The two parts together would lead to a 8,500-tonne CO2 reduction.

This could amount to 210 million tonnes of annual CO2 emissions reductions across global foundries if the industry follows this approach.This is of particular importance to India, where a significant part of the global casting market is sourced, according to Kamal Bali, president and managing director of Volvo group in India.The AP plant will operate on 100% renewable energy from solar and wind energy.We are proud to be involved in shaping the future of the transportation industry at Volvo.
