Goalpara, Assam: On Tuesday evening, a wild elephant was seen chasing off people in the Rongjuli area of Assam's Goalpara district.According to a local resident, the herd of wild elephants came out of a nearby jungle area and took refuge in the area in search of food.The herd destroyed many bighas of paddy crops in the area.We are now helpless, according to a villager.Around 70 wild elephants are currently hiding in different regions of Rongjuli, according to the Forest Range Officer.A herd of about 35-40 wild elephants is roaming in the Rongjuli Kahibari area, according to the Forest Range Officer.
