Shashi Tharoor dropped from Congress list of activists in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh . BJP gains more than 150 seats out of an average of 182 seats .
New Delhi (Reuters): Shashi Tharoor, a senior official from the Congress, said as the Congress crashed to its worst-ever performance in Gujarat, I am neither a Gujarat campaigner nor am I on the list of those who were supposed to campaign, so it is impossible for me to give you an answer.Mr Tharoors was dropped from the Congress list of activists in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh after running against Mallikarjun Kharge, the Gandhis' candidate. The BJP has achieved a humongous success in Gujarat, gaining more than 150 seats out of an average of 182 seats. It is a record not just for the party, but also for the region, and it set a new record for the state, which was set in 1985 when the BJP took 149 seats, according to Mr Tharoor, who spoke at Parliament today.
The Arvind Kejriwals party is expected to win six seats in Gujarat, which is much less than it expected, although it gains a foothold in a state with a long history of bipolarity, with the only two options being Congress and the BJP as the BJP takes their seventh term in a row.The PM fought across his homeland state, staging more than 30 rallies, and the country's triumph is due to his central role.Rahul Gandhi, the biggest star of the Congress, held two seats in Himachal Pradesh, early results showed that the BJP and the Congress were on a near-tie, but by early afternoon, the Congress was clearly in the lead with 35 seats out of a possible 68 seats.Since taking his candidacy for President in October, Mr Tharoor's relationship with his party seems frosty.
