West Bengal: 306 new dengue cases in the BMC area over the previous 7 days

306 new cases reported from Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation area (BMC) of Salt Lake and Rajarhat-Gopalpur . A new dengue strain, DEN 3, has been spotted .

KOLKATA (Kolkata): Last week, 306 new dengue cases were reported from the Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation area (BMC) of Salt Lake and Rajarhat-Gopalpur, as the state urban development department provided financial and infrastructural assistance to civic officials to counter the surge.On Friday, urban development minister Firhad Hakim met with Bidhannagar MLA and fire services minister Sujit Bose, BMC mayor Krishna Chakraborty, and MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar.A new dengue strain, DEN 3, has been spotted.To combat dengue, we have provided Rs 98 lakh in funding and installed three Elisa machines and five sanitation inspectors.

According to Hakim, all necessary steps are being taken.Around 70% of cases are seen in rural areas.To ensure a good conservancy scheme is in place, we have asked KMDA to design a land use development plan for the KMDA area, according to the minister.
