Why Are China and Pakistan Protecting a Terrorist, asks Abdul Rehman Makki?

Abdul Rehman Makki is the brother-in-law of LeT leader and 2611 mastermind Hafiz Saeed . Makki has been involved in raising funds, recruiting, radicalizing and orchestrating attacks in India .

New Delhi, June 24: According to sources, China rejected a joint effort by India and the United States to list Pakistan-based terrorist Abdul Rehman Makki as a global terrorist under the UN Security Council's Al-Qaeda and ISIL Sanctions Committee, which is also known as the UNSC 1267 Committee earlier this month. In India, particularly in Jammu and Kashmir, he has been involved in raising funds, recruiting, radicalizing and orchestrating attacks.Makki is the brother-in-law of LeT leader and 2611 mastermind Hafiz Saeed. He has held several leadership positions with LeT, a US-designated Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO).He has also helped raise funds for LeT projects.

Because the Pakistani judiciary system has previously released imprisoned LeT leaders and operatives, the US continues to seek details on Makki. It was also reported that the plan to list Makki under the UN Security Council sanctions scheme was given to all members of the 1267 Committee under a no-objection policy until June 16, but that China placed a technical hold on it later.According to reports, Beijing's decision is extremely tragic and contradicts terrorism's claims.ANote: This is not the first time China has placed obstacles on the list of known terrorists.China and Pakistan are now negotiating with Maulana Masood Azhar, the head of the Pakistan-based and UN-proscribed terrorist organisation Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), for a time.In addition, the veto sends a warning that China is able to back up its terrorism advocacy rhetoric in the case of international terrorism and may in fact protect it, according to Massimo Introvigne.
