Yuvraj Singh Sandhu wins first PGTI title in Digboi . Arjun Sharma finishes tied third with Sri Lankan N Thangaraja .

Digboi (Assam) India: Yuvraj Singh Sandhu came from behind to claim his first PGTI title in Digboi last year, totaling 17-under 271 for the week, surpassing Ashok Kumar's record of five victories in the PGTI main tour, which was held by the 25-year-old.Yuvrajs winning cheque worth INR 11,25,000 lifted his season earnings to INR 62,39,768, overtaking second-placed Manu Gandas who has four titles to his name this season.A final round of 69 gave him his second runner-up finish of the season.Arjun rose from 28th to 19th position on the PGTI money list, scoring a 66 to finish tied third with Sri Lankan N Thangaraja (67).

Yuvraj Singh Sandhu, who was the leader for the first two rounds before slipping to tied fourth and three shots off the lead after round three, came out firing on all cylinders on Saturday with a flawless 64 that featured four birdies on the front nine and back-nine, each of which featured four par-4 greens on his tee shots and a few par-5 greens with his approach shots, setting up chip-putt birdies there.Sandhu sank a 15-footer on the 13th and was two-on on the par-5 15th, making birdies on both occasions, according to Yuvraj, but with my round of 63 here, I thought, if I can do it on day one, I can certainly do it on day four.At the start of the round today, I was reminded that I started my golfing in Assam, so I have a special connection with this place and therefore I must play well here.I want to thank my family and my entire team of support, mentor, and physiotherapist who have always trusted in me.

This week, ball striking was the best part of my game.At the start of the tournament, the aim was to find the right greens.I was able to execute that plan effectively.I started cold today, but I saw an opportunity for myself after the front-nine.

When I was playing the back-nine, I was repeating the event in my mind. That went a long way toward helping me.At this stage, I am excited to be leading the PGTI Order of Merit and am looking forward to continuing my run with only three events remaining in the season. On day four, Arjun Sharma made five birdies and two bogeys to finish second.

N Thangaraja made seven birdies and two bogeys during his final round of 67.Manu Gandas' Gurugrams were tied for 29th at three-under 285.He also ranked as the second in the PGTI poll.Dulal Kalowar, the only local professional to make it to the playoffs, finished the week in 58th place with a 10-over 298.
