India has become the world's largest connected nation with 800 million users, says Rajeev Chandrasekhar . The Minister said 5G and the biggest rural broadband connectivity network at BharatNet will have 1.2 billion Indian users .

NEW DELHI: India has become the world's largest connected nation with 800 million users, according to Union Minister of State for Electronics and IT Rajeev Chandrasekhar.The Minister said at the India Internet Governance Forum 2022 (IIGF2022) that 5G and the biggest rural broadband connectivity network at BharatNet will have 1.2 billion Indian users, representing the single largest internet presence in the world.We also need to see more technological advancements as well as updated regulatory regimes in place to maintain their relevance.At the three-day gathering in the national capital on Sunday, Chandrasekhar said that the deep participation by all players will be the third leg of this Global Standard Cyber Law Framework, which we hope will catalyze the Indian Internet and the economy.

We're working on developing laws that protect the privacy, integrity, data, integrity, and safety of our citizens.We're also planning on how to build a trillion-dollar internet economy in the next three years, according to Alkesh Kumar Sharma, MeitY's secretary.The conference focused on identifying India as a key player on the international stage by highlighting its role and place in international policy development on Internet governance.The India Internet Governance Forum is a joint venture of the United Nations Internet Governance Forum (UN-IGF).
