Woman in Ahmedabad claims her boyfriend passed her up for marriage because of caste

AHMEDABAD: On Thursday, a 21-year-old woman from Ellisbridge filed a police complaint against her boyfriend, a Paldi resident, and his aide, alleging that they slapped her multiple times when she protested after he refused to marry her due to her caste.When the third-semester BBA student said she had started a relationship with a child when they were both in the same tuition class in 2019, she wrote in her FIR.The two eloped in 2020, and their parents confronted police and they were tracked.According to the FIR filed with Ellisbridge police, she said that the boyfriend would take money from her, which she often delivered by online payment methods.

When they met, the woman demanded that her boyfriend marry her.According to the complaint, the boyfriend allegedly abused her at the outset, telling her that he couldn't marry her because she belongs to a Scheduled Caste community.After this, the boyfriend, who comes from other backward classes (OBC), and his mother allegedly slapped her multiple times.She called police and filed a lawsuit alleging assault, as well as charges under the SCST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act against the man and his companion.
