Women's Tennis Association competition to be held in Chennai

Tamil Nadu government signs agreement to hold WTA 250 tournament in Chennai . The government has allocated Rs 5 crore for the first installment of the project .

CHENNAI, September 20: According to minister for youth welfare and sport Siva V Meyyanathan, the state government signed an agreement with the Tamil Nadu Tennis Association on Saturday to hold a WTA 250 tournament in Chennai in September and October this year.Our chief minister has been granted permission to host an international womens tennis tournament in Chennai, which is exciting news for tennis players and sports fans.Vijay Amritraj, the president of the Tamil Nadu Tennis Association, and the government signed an agreement in this regard today, according to the minister.The government would make an effort to redecorate the tennis stadium in Nungambakkam for the tournament.

For the 44th edition of Chess Olympiad 2022, the government signed a memorandum of understanding with the All-India Chess Federation (AICF).On the occasion, Chief Minister M K Stalin was present.To ensure a smooth running of the Chess Olympiad in Mamallapuram in July and August, the CM has established 18 working committees.The government has also hired senior bureaucrats to manage the processes.
