Ludhiana: On Saturday, Youth Congress leaders marched to Samrala Chowk to protest against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president J P Nadda.However, the police stopped them near Samrala Chowk before they could arrive at the rally site on Chandigarh Road.The youth Congress leaders argued with the police, and the police arrested the demonstrators as the situation escalated out of control.The Youth Congress had announced that it would address Nadda on the topic of inflation the day before his visit.

At around 3.30 p.m., Punjab Youth Congress president Barinder Singh Dhillon, district Youth Congress president Yogesh Handa, and rural president Lucky Sandhu marched towards the rally site, avoiding the police.The activists had succeeded in blocking the barricades, but police were called on and arrested over 100 Youth Congress leaders from the field.In the meantime, a large traffic jam was recorded at Chandigarh Road and NH 44 from Basti Jodhewal up to Samrala Chowk.The commuters became trapped on the highway when police closed Chandigarh Road as Nadda was passing through it.
